Crowds Sing Welsh National Anthem at Station to Send off Plaid’s Anne Davies

A large crowd of supporters gathered at Carmarthen Railway Station to send off Plaid Cymru’s MP for Carmarthen Anne Davies as she headed to Westminster today, Monday (Jul 8th).

The crowd waved Welsh flags and sang to the MP as she boarded the 7.23 train from Carmarthen to London. Anne takes her seat at Westminster tomorrow.

The Carmarthen seat has been an historical ping pong battle between Plaid Cymru and Labour but the recent boundary changes has meant that politicians associated with the former two boundary seats have lost their jobs. Anne said that it was a great honour to replicate the win of Gwynfor Evans in 1966. There were celebrations in Carmarthen over the weekend as the Leader of Plaid Cymru Rhun Ap Iorwerth visited the town to congratulate Anne.

Anne Davies said that what you see is what you get. She is a farmer and businesswoman. Speaking to Carmarthenshire News Online following her victory the MP said that she is all about transparency and bringing back some integrity and core values to the role of MP. Anne said that her priorities will be around health, education, farming and the economy.
